New Location for Michigan Women
A new digital storytelling project is launching that will give women, aged 19-35, the opportunity to tell their own stories in their communities.
Michigan Women is a new digital storytelling project that will give women the opportunity to share their stories in their own communities. This project is the brainchild of seasoned Michigan-based filmmaker Patti Coscetti and is part of the Award winning DocGENUS Project.
“The main idea behind this project is that women’s stories are often not told and women often feel less than and powerless” said Coscetti. “These stories have never been told and they belong to them and their communities. They have all stories to tell but feel they can’t tell them. I am excited to be working with women to tell their stories in their own voice and in their own words.”
Women’s stories are a valuable part of Michigan history, as evidenced by the 775+ stories that have been told in the docGENUS project so far. Coscetti says this project is built around those stories and the values that inform them.
“I want to find and film women who have experienced something that they need to tell their story,” Coscetti said. “Whether it’s a personal story or something that impacted them in their community, I want to capture these stories. We are looking for stories that are authentic.”
